A must see while in Chelsea, the High Line is a public park built on a rail line elevated above the streets giving you a great view of Manhattan. Saved from demolition, the High Line opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design. The 1.45-mile-long greenway is currently open 10AM-6PM with a free timed-entry reservation system on weekends. On weekdays, the park is open 7AM-7PM without reservations. During all open hours, you’re welcome to enter the park at Gansevoort Street, 23rd Street, or 30th Street, and stroll north or south.
